Many of our employees and their family members have had the LASIK procedure, including Dr. Carlson and Dr. Brownfield. Since most of us have been through the LASIK process, we feel this helps us to better counsel our patients about laser vision correction. Our Doctors

All of our doctors at Dishler Laser Institute have years of experience in managing refractive surgery patients. They have seen thousands of LASIK patients both pre-operatively and post-operatively. Their experience level assures our patients that we can give them the best clinical advice before surgery as to whether they are indeed good LASIK candidates. It also assures our patients that experienced doctors, who have seen thousands of LASIK patients, are managing their post-operative care. Like Dr. Dishler, they specialize only in the management of LASIK patients. Also, having four doctors on staff ensures that our patients always have a local, experienced doctor on call.

Kim Brownfield, O.D. received her Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Iowa State University. She received her Doctor of Optometry degree, with honors, from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. Dr. Brownfield has had IntraLASIK at Dishler Laser Institute and has an extensive knowledge of pre and post-operative management of IntraLASIK patients. She performed a specialty LASIK internship in Omaha, Nebraska and is an adjunct professor at the University of Houston College of Optometry.

Dr. Christine Steinbrecher completed her undergraduate studies in pre-medicine and dietetics at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN. She received her doctor of optometry degree with honors from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN in 1999. Since then, she has dedicated her career to co-managing surgical patients. She has extensive experience and training in the field of corneal refractive surgery and has practiced with LASIK surgeons at the prestigious United States Air Force Academy Hospital in Colorado Springs. In addition, she has worked with 2 top refractive surgeons in Northern MN, where she was born and raised. She and her husband Mark, who is also an optometrist, have 2 daughters and reside in Aurora, CO.

Our staff of Registered Nurses

Not many laser vision correction facilities employ Registered Nurses. Each of these nurses has been with Dr. Dishler in the operating suites at Dishler Laser Institute for many years and Rachel Gomez, Practice Administrator, for over 12 years. Obviously, since they have been with him since he started doing LASIK and other advanced procedures, this gives them a wealth of experience in the specialized care of our LASIK patients. And if you believe our patients, you would be hard pressed to find a more personable and caring staff of nurses anywhere.

Our Certified Ophthalmic Technician

Our staff of Certified Ophthalmic Technicians are the finest trained and most experienced in the industry. They not only work in the clinic providing our LASIK patients exceptional pre-operative and post-operative care, but they also assist Dr. Dishler in surgery.We are also an approved site for senior training of Optometric students who rotate through our facilities from two major university systems. Their work is closely supervised by our doctors.
